Joanne McNally's Celebrity Traitors fate 'sealed' after BBC slip-up
Joanne McNally's Celebrity Traitors fate 'sealed' after slip-up

BBC viewers believe comedian Joanne McNally could be the next celebrity to leave the Scottish Castle on Celebrity Traitors after a major slip-up during Thursday's episode (October 15). Despite the gaffe, McNally escaped banishment, with Hannah Fry departing instead.

Ross Kemp under scrutiny at Round Table

During the latest Round Table, the group faced the challenge of unmasking another Traitor, having already successfully ousted Richard E. Grant at the first Round Table. Suspicion largely fell upon Hannah Fry, but other cast members, including former EastEnders actor Ross Kemp, also came under scrutiny.

A number of the group suspect Kemp could be one of the Traitors, given that he was among the four contestants selected to participate in a deadly game of hide and seek alongside Romesh Ranganathan, Rob Beckett and Leigh-Anne Pinnock. Pleading his innocence as a Faithful, Kemp declared: "I wasn't recruited, I'm not a Traitor. I don't think there was a Traitor there last night. I looked at everybody when we got out of those cars. I thought I was going home. That was, honestly, an awful experience."

McNally's slip-up spotted by fellow celebrities

McNally then remarked: "It was horrible, it was - I wasn't there, but I heard it was. I was watching from my cloak with my lantern." Despite attempting to brush off her gaffe with humour, her fellow celebrities immediately picked up on her slip and exchanged suspicious glances, reports Wales Online.

This follows Grant, himself a Traitor, sensationally revealing his true identity just hours into the programme — a costly mistake that made him the first contestant to be banished from the Castle. Despite McNally's absence when Kemp, Ranganathan, Beckett and Pinnock learned their fate — which resulted in Beckett's murder — viewers are certain the focus will now turn to McNally, who could face banishment at the next Round Table.

Viewers react on X

On X, one viewer wrote: "Joanne randomly slipping up that she's a traitor, but she's not at all." Another posted: "I do fear Joanne is absolutely f*****d at the next round table though, especially after throwing out a random vote for Bash when almost everyone else had gone for Hannah, even the actual traitors. It's not looking good for her #celebritytraitors".

A further user commented: "Joanne throwing herself under the bus when she's not even a traitor." While another remarked: "Joanne voting for someone nobody is voting for, like Hannah's theory, she is the most traitor faithful ever." Yet another viewer added: "Can't believe Joanne got away with the slip-up." As one person simply stated: "Here we go. Bye, Joanne."

Hannah Fry banished, new Traitor recruited

Ultimately, McNally managed to escape banishment during Thursday's episode, as it was Fry who departed the castle after revealing herself to be a Traitor. This prompted Maya Jama and James Acaster to recruit 29-year-old content creator King Kenny as their newest Traitor to continue the game.

Following her departure from the castle, Fry disclosed that her closest companion had been McNally, whom she discovered was a family relation. She explained: "I really like Joanne. We actually discovered that we're cousins, by marriage. So her cousin is married to my cousin. We're basically sisters. I really loved her so much. She described herself as how she came out of the womb as a show pony. That's the perfect description of that woman. She is phenomenal. She knows exactly who she is, and she is totally unapologetic about it. I cannot tell you how much I admire her. She's phenomenal."

Celebrity Traitors continues Thursdays and Fridays on BBC One from 8pm.
