ITV has replaced Fletcher's Family Farm with a new series of Jeremy Clarkson's Millionaire Hot Seat, which airs tonight (Monday, August 31) at 7.30pm.
For weeks, audiences have watched classic episodes of Kelvin and Liz Fletcher's farming programme every Monday at 7.30pm, which follows the highs and lows of managing their Cheshire farm. In the most recent episode, the couple spoke openly about a devastating loss on the farm.
Vet health check and loss of beloved lamb
The couple invited vet Angelica to the farm for a health check on their flock, following the death of their pet lamb, Aga. Kelvin explained the impact of worms on the animals, saying: "We're taking a belt and braces approach this year, as through the winter, worms were a real problem and proved to be fatal for a couple of our lambs, including our beloved Aga. Aga was an orphan lamb whom we fell in love with, but later lost to a worm infection."
Despite the sombre subject, there were lighter moments during the health check. Liz commented on the task of rounding up the sheep: "It kind of looks a bit chaotic, but this is the smoothest it's ever happened."
Clarkson's quiz replaces farming show
Tonight, Fletcher's Family Farm will not be shown, as it has been replaced by the new series of Jeremy Clarkson's Millionaire Hot Seat. This is not the first time Clarkson has pushed farming content aside — the former Top Gear presenter also created Clarkson's Farm on Amazon Prime Video, which follows his attempts to run Diddly Squat Farm in the Cotswolds.
The synopsis for the quiz programme, which runs from 7.30pm to 8pm, reads: "Jeremy Clarkson returns with the quiz as six more hopefuls compete for £1 million, with only one player at a time able to take a place in the Hot Seat and answer multiple-choice questions to work the way up the Money Ladder.
"Each question is against the clock and if a player gets one wrong they are eliminated, the top prize drops, and the next player takes their place."
Future of Fletcher's Family Farm
ITV has yet to confirm when the new series of Fletcher's Family Farm will broadcast, though Kelvin and Liz have revealed that two additional seasons have been commissioned, reports the Daily Star.
Kelvin and Liz Fletcher said: "We're delighted to be returning for series five and six. What started as a simple desire to share our family's journey has grown into something far bigger than we ever imagined.
"We'd like to thank ITV for their continued support and belief in the series and Daisybeck Studios for creating such a true account of our lives.
"As we enter this next chapter, we're also proud that Fletcher Studios will be joining Daisybeck as a co-production partner on the series. It's an exciting step for us creatively."
