ITV Unveils First Look at Graham Norton's Groundbreaking Reality Series The Neighbourhood
ITV has dropped an exciting first look at Graham Norton's innovative new reality television series The Neighbourhood, which promises to transform everyday domestic life into an immersive, high-stakes game show experience. The groundbreaking 11-part series is scheduled to launch next month across ITV1, ITVX, STV, and STV Player platforms, bringing a completely fresh flavour to the reality television landscape.
Six Households Compete for Life-Changing £250,000 Prize
The series will feature six real households from diverse locations across the United Kingdom, all moving into a specially designed street called KeepYourEnemies Close. These families will engage in a street-wide popularity contest where the ultimate goal is not merely keeping up with the neighbours but actively defeating them. The last household standing will secure a truly life-changing cash prize of £250,000, creating intense competition and dramatic interpersonal dynamics.
ITV released an official statement describing the unique format: "It marries high-stakes competition, epic challenges and relatable domestic drama, to offer a completely fresh flavour of reality. In The Neighbourhood, it's not about keeping up with the Joneses - it's about beating them. Bring on the ding dong!" The network emphasizes that the show places authentic relationships at its core while transforming ordinary daily interactions into a giant, immersive gameshow structure.
Graham Norton's Enthusiasm for the Project
Beloved presenter Graham Norton, 62, was initially confirmed as host for The Neighbourhood back in February 2025. The popular television personality expressed genuine excitement about the concept, telling The Sun at the time: "Like everyone, I'm always intrigued by what goes on behind closed doors. Add to that some dastardly challenges and a life-changing prize and I'm hooked. I feel confident that The Neighbourhood will be the nation's favourite destination."
Norton brings considerable experience to the project, being widely recognized for his long-running eponymous chat show on the BBC and his regular commentary for the Eurovision Song Contest. He also maintains strong ties with ITV, currently presenting the revived version of Wheel of Fortune for the broadcaster, demonstrating his versatility across different network formats and program types.
Norton Defends Claudia Winkleman Amid Chat Show Criticism
The announcement comes as Graham Norton recently launched a passionate defence of fellow presenter Claudia Winkleman, who faced significant backlash following the debut of her new BBC chat show earlier this month. The Claudia Winkleman Show attracted an audience exceeding 1.4 million viewers but received mixed reviews from critics, with some describing it as a "mess", a "bore", and a "huge mistake".
Norton, whose production company So Television actually produces Winkleman's program, insisted she "nailed it" during comments at the Michael Josephson Farewell Charity Ball in Manchester. He told the Mail's Eden Confidential: "What Claudia did was the Claudia Winkleman show, and that's what she's supposed to be doing. She shouldn't be trying to be me. She should be trying to be Claudia, and she nailed that."
Fronted by The Traitors icon Claudia Winkleman, the new chat show adopts a similar format to The Graham Norton Show but incorporates a distinctly moodier, after-hours atmosphere. Norton's own program typically occupies the same coveted Friday night BBC1 slot, making his supportive comments particularly significant within the industry.
The Neighbourhood begins its highly anticipated run this April, offering viewers a unique blend of competition, drama, and real-life relationships as six ordinary households battle for extraordinary rewards in television's latest reality innovation.
