Emmerdale fans believe they have uncovered DS Thea Ramsden's true identity, speculating she is the secret daughter of soap icon Sadie King (Patsy Kensit).
Thea Ramsden (Chelsea Edge) arrived on the soap this month as the police officer investigating the death of Dr Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker). Villainous Caitlin, who sexually assaulted and blackmailed Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins), was accidentally killed by Charity's granddaughter Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill). Charity has since accepted responsibility, and an investigation is ongoing, with DS Thea Ramsden convinced Charity is lying.
Link to newcomer and grudge against Kim Tate
This week it emerged that Thea shares a link with fellow newcomer Serena (Casey Al-Shaqsy). It was also disclosed that Thea harbours a grudge against Kim Tate (Claire King) and is attempting to bring her down with Serena's assistance. In Tuesday's episode (August 18), Thea infiltrated Home Farm to uncover incriminating evidence on Kim.
Fans speculate on Sadie King connection
With further drama and revelations likely, fans have 'figured out' Thea is connected to a soap icon, in what would be a major twist, reports the Daily Star. On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, viewers speculate she could be Sadie King's daughter, who is making a comeback to the soap shortly.
"DS Ramsden could be Sadie's daughter!" suggested one person. Someone else added: "That's what I'm beginning to think?" A third chimed in: "I thought that."
Sadie's return hinted by show boss
Sadie's Emmerdale comeback is imminent, and addressing journalists at a recent gathering, Emmerdale boss Laura Shaw hinted at her return. She said: "It's Sadie King. I feel like, of course she's got an agenda... What I can say is the reason that Sadie comes back and the secret she comes back with is gonna be absolutely shocking. And whether all is quite as it seems, we shall see as the story progresses, but it's gonna be pretty big and pretty shocking."
Laura continued: "We've definitely tried to bring Sadie back every bit in a dramatic way as she arrived last time. So, I think her arrival will be every bit as amazing and brilliant as the first time around. I think probably the most shocking thing is definitely the reason that brings her back. It's undoubtedly one of the biggest secrets we've ever had within the King family, and it's gonna be pretty explosive."
Emmerdale airs Monday to Friday at 8:00pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
