Emmerdale fans predict Vinny Dingle's prison death after sentence

Emmerdale fans are convinced that Vinny Dingle will be killed off in upcoming scenes after he was sentenced to 10 years in prison during Monday's episode. The character, played by Bradley Johnson, had pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving following a deadly car crash that killed two villagers.

The crash occurred when Vinny answered a phone call from his ex-wife, Gabby Thomas, and subsequently caused Jimmy King's car to careen into the wedding marquee of Dawn Fletcher and Joe Tate. Both Jimmy and Dawn died in the incident. Vinny initially lied to Gabby, claiming he had seen a deer on the road, but later came clean and went to the police.

Court verdict and sentencing

During the latest episode, which is currently streaming on ITVX, the judge handed down a 10-year prison sentence. The judge said: "You are charged and have pleaded guilty to one count of causing death by dangerous driving. This is a most unfortunate incident. I don't know what it takes for people to realise that their actions have consequences."

The judge added: "No text or phone call is more important than a life. You are aware of the severity of your actions, but I cannot ignore the fact that it took you weeks to own up to your part in this tragedy." The judge continued: "Taking this into account, I feel it is incumbent upon myself to make an example of you in the hope that it will deter others from behaving in such a reckless manner. I therefore impose a 10-year sentence of imprisonment."

As the village reeled from the verdict, it was revealed that the judge had been paid off, with evidence pointing to Joe Tate. The episode ended with villagers reading letters of apology from Vinny, written before his hearing.

Fans fear for Vinny's safety

With Vinny heading to prison, viewers are concerned for his safety. Some fans believe he might be killed off-screen by an iconic Dales villain. One person wrote on a Facebook fan page: "Who else thinks Vinny's going to be killed in prison?" Another said: "Yeah I think so too, what if it's Tom King that does it?" A third added: "OMG I can see that happening!"

The speculation comes after the ITV soap confirmed the return of villain Tom King, played by James Chase, for later this year. Emmerdale has teased that the village is set for a "chilling shake-up" upon the abuser's return. Emmerdale airs weekday nights at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
