Delta Goodrem to star on The Voice despite Strictly injury

Delta Goodrem will still appear on TV this Saturday night (October 17) despite pulling out of Icons Week on Strictly Come Dancing due to a broken rib. The 41-year-old Australian singer, partnered with Kai Widdrington on the BBC show, has been given a pass this weekend as she is unable to dance.

In a statement, she described herself as 'absolutely gutted' at missing the show and told fans she would be 'cheering everyone on from the sidelines'. Instead, she will star in ITV's The Voice, assisting coach Kelly Rowland during the pre-recorded battle stage, where Rowland must cut her team down to just three contestants.

Fans react to The Voice reunion

The show's official Instagram shared a post of Delta and Kelly, with the pair seen putting strands of hair behind their ears while looking intensely into the camera before turning to each other and looking back into the lens again. This is not the first time the duo have worked together, as both were judges on the Australian version of The Voice for four seasons.

Fans quickly commented on the post, with many thrilled Delta would still be on their screens this weekend. One person said: "Yay! Still get to watch you Saturday night then." Another wrote: "Yes, delta!" While another commented: "Yaaaas, so excited for this."

Injury update and recovery

One fan added: "Literally my favourite time on @thevoiceau was with you two!" Another said: "The reunion we've all been waiting for! So happy to see you two together again!" Another person wrote: "They have been besties since The Voice AU, great to see them together again!" While another commented: "See you Saturday The Voice UK."

It is not yet known if Delta will continue on the BBC show due to her injury. The rules state celebrities are given a week's pass if they hurt themselves, but if they require more time to heal, they must withdraw from the competition.

Delta took to Instagram this week to share an update with followers, posting a snap of herself lying on a sofa recovering. She wrote: "Just wanted to come on here and say a big thank you to everyone who has sent messages and wrote lovely comments the last couple of days, I see them all. Not the start to the week I'd hoped for, but your support has meant the world.

"Also, a special big thank you to my amazing dance partner @kaiwidd who I will miss dancing with this weekend, but I am so beyond grateful for his guidance and friendship through it all, as well as the wonderful Strictly team!! Resting and recovering at home, and will be cheering everyone on from my couch on Saturday night xx"

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday on BBC One at 6:15pm. The Voice airs Saturday on ITV1 at 8:35pm.
