Delta Goodrem to appear on The Voice after Strictly injury

Delta Goodrem is set to appear on ITV's The Voice this weekend, despite having to withdraw from Icons Week on Strictly Come Dancing due to a rib injury. The 41-year-old Australian singer, paired with Kai Widdrington on the BBC programme, has been granted an exemption after the injury prevented her from performing.

Delta's statement on missing Strictly

In a statement, Delta expressed how 'gutted' she felt about missing the programme and told supporters she would be 'cheering everyone on from the sidelines'. However, fans will still see her on screen this weekend as she features on The Voice.

Delta will assist mentor Kelly Rowland during the pre-recorded battle phase of the programme on Saturday (October 17), as the American vocalist must reduce her team to just three contestants.

Reunion with Kelly Rowland

Posting an image of Delta and Kelly on the programme's official Instagram, the two women appeared placing a lock of hair behind their ears while gazing at the camera. This is not the first time the duo have appeared together, as both served as judges on the Australian edition of The Voice for four seasons.

Fans responded with delight, with one person saying: "Yay! Still get to watch you Saturday night then." Another wrote: "Yes, delta!" While another commented: "Yaaaas, so excited for this"

Future on Strictly unclear

One fan added: "Literally my favourite time on @thevoiceau was with you two!" As another said: "The reunion we've all been waiting for! So happy to see you two together again!"

It remains unclear whether Delta will continue on the BBC programme following her injury. Regulations stipulate that celebrities receive a week's grace period if injured, but must withdraw if they need additional recovery time.

Delta posted on Instagram this week, sharing a photograph of herself resting on a sofa. She wrote: "Just wanted to come on here and say a big thank you to everyone who has sent messages and wrote lovely comments the last couple of days, I see them all. Not the start to the week I'd hoped for, but your support has meant the world."

She added: "Also, a special big thank you to my amazing dance partner @kaiwidd who I will miss dancing with this weekend, but I am so beyond grateful for his guidance and friendship through it all, as well as the wonderful Strictly team! ! Resting and recovering at home, and will be cheering everyone on from my couch on Saturday night xx"

Strictly Come Dancing continues this Saturday on BBC One at 6:15pm. The Voice broadcasts Saturday on ITV1 at 8:35pm.
