Dec Donnelly was seen fighting tears as he told Ant McPartlin why he was proud of him, while referencing his past struggles.
The pair are famed for working as a duo for more than 30 years, having first met on Byker Grove in the early 90s, where they starred in the teen drama as PJ & Duncan, and have since gone on to build a hugely successful TV career around their pairing.
Podcast launch and past struggles
It was back in January that they revealed they would be taking on a first in their three-decade career, as they announced that they were launching their first podcast series, Hanging Out With Ant & Dec.
But it was eight years ago that personal matters overshadowed their career, as Ant was arrested after he hit a BMW while driving his Mini Cooper near his London home. He was fined £86,000 and handed a 20-month ban, which was reduced to 15 months after he completed a drink-driving referral course.
Proud moment on the podcast
In the latest episode of their podcast series, Ant and Dec were asked to share why they are proud of each other. Going first, Ant said of Dec: "I'm very proud of Dec as a man, you know, as a human, as a dad. He's a good person. And I think there's there's something to be said about that. Forget all the career stuff, he's a good person."
Dec thanked him for his comments, then became emotional himself as he spoke of why he's proud of Ant. "I would say I am most proud of Ant, it's something we talked about in the last pod actually, your first ever tattoo...
"I am really proud of him, the way that he has managed and dealt with the adversity you've faced in your life and how you took it on yourself to make yourself a better person and to improve yourself and to change the path of your life and how well you've done and how you have given yourself and given your family a whole new life and the way that you have taken responsibility and done all of that.
"I think your first tattoo completely sums up how brilliantly you've faced your issues and your problems and turned your life around. I think that is a real kind of testament."
