Coronation Street actress Tina O'Brien has admitted she may not want to play Sarah Platt forever, as the character awaits trial for murder on the ITV soap.
Sarah's murder storyline
Sarah killed Theo Silverton earlier this year after his abuse of Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) was exposed. The pair ended up on scaffolding outside Theo's flat, where he taunted and threatened her. Fearing for her safety, Sarah lashed out with a metal bar and knocked Theo to the ground, killing him.
She has since confessed to killing Theo in self-defence and has been in prison awaiting trial. Tina has played Sarah since 1999, but has now said she may not want to play the role indefinitely.
Tina O'Brien on her future
'I am really happy here at Corrie. Do I want to do it forever? I don't know, but I am very grateful for a job I genuinely love,' she told Bella Magazine.
Reflecting on life away from the cobbles, she added: 'I love being able to come home for my son. If I were a jobbing actress, I'd have to go to a lot of auditions. This role enables me to be there for my son and do something I am passionate about.'
Sarah's day in court
Next week, Sarah will finally have her day in court. The prosecution will paint her as a vengeful vigilante, and testimonies from Danielle Silverton (Natalie Anderson) and Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) do not help her case.
The following day, Todd steps up to the witness stand in defence of Sarah. With things looking bad, Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) tries to persuade Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) to take the stand and help Sarah, but it remains unclear whether his testimony will help or hinder her case.
