Corrie star teases 'sinister' Jodie's dark secrets

Coronation Street star Olivia Frances Brown has warned that viewers have not yet seen the worst of Jodie Ramsey's capabilities, teasing dark secrets linked to her past.

Amid spoilers hinting at the end of the villain, actress Olivia Frances Brown has suggested there is much more to come. Alluding to the character's mysterious dark past, she said viewers might finally be about to see exactly what Jodie is capable of.

Dark secrets and a deadly showdown

With discoveries, exposed secrets and a deadly gun showdown on the horizon, Olivia hinted that things would get explosive. She said: "When pushed, you just don't know what she’s capable of."

"She has a lot of dark secrets, she's seen a lot and she has a genuinely sinister side to her. She’s driven herself completely crazy with this huge fantasy. It’s not rooted in reality anymore, she’s completely lost her marbles."

Explosive episodes ahead

Speaking about next week's dramatic episodes, she went on: "It was so exciting! It’s not every day at work that someone brings out a real weapon - with a professional gun handler on set to show you how to use it safely."

"When I read the script, I knew it could truly be anyone getting shot." Olivia also hinted this could be the moment Jodie finally faces the repercussions of her behaviour.

She said: "It’s definitely been a long time coming for it to blow up between Jodie and Shona. Let’s just say... somebody is about to get their comeuppance and you’ll just need to watch to find out!"

Obsession with Shona's life

Olivia says Jodie's whole intention is based on her genuine obsession with her sister Shona's life and her husband David Platt. Olivia explained: "It’s all about her warped mind. Jodie has convinced herself that David symbolises her potential for future happiness."

"She’s lost the plot a little bit and truly believes David is the answer to all her wants and needs - which obviously isn’t reality! She’s just completely hooked on that idea now."

Of course Jodie also wants revenge on Shona, feeling she abandoned her as a child. Olivia said: "That’s exactly what it is. Jodie idolises Shona so much that she literally wants to step into her shoes, take over her life and know what that feels like."

"By taking over David, the house, the role with Harper - she genuinely wants to know how it feels to be Shona. She loves her sister, but she wishes Shona had treated her differently throughout her life."

"There’s a deep need to get her own back and have some sort of revenge. As much as she cares about their relationship, she’s willing to do whatever it takes to get the happiness she feels she deserves."

Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
