Coronation Street fans have pointed out that something - or rather some people - were missing as Sarah Platt was seen going on trial for the murder of Theo Silverton.
Viewers of the ITV soap, filmed in Salford, know Sarah has already been behind bars for months after it was revealed she killed the builder, who had been abusing her best friend Todd Grimshaw and his husband.
Sarah's confession came weeks after Theo's body was found by a horrified Betsy Swain on the night of her mum Lisa's wedding to Carla Connor on April 23. Sarah is pleading self-defence.
Flashback scenes and arrest
Flashback scenes aired in June showed Theo confronting Sarah after luring her to his flat. Fearing for her life, she appeared to deal the blow that sent a drunk Theo tumbling off scaffolding outside his flat and plummeting to the ground, before calling on her former flame Gary Windass for help.
The reveal came after a murder investigation was underway, with Theo's husband Todd, along with George Shuttleworth, Summer Spellman, Christina Boyd, Gary, and Theo's ex-wife Danielle Silverton, all named as suspects.
Sarah eventually confessed to her best friend, while her partner DC Kit Green found out when she admitted to killing Theo as he tried to propose. Despite Kit's attempts to help cover up her crime, Sarah was arrested and later charged, admitting to the murder and telling DS Lisa Connor-Swain it was self-defence.
Trial gets underway
During Wednesday's episode (October 14), the trial was seen getting underway. Sarah's family - Bethany, David and Shona Platt, and her former husband Adam Barlow - headed to court and listened as the prosecution barrister told the jury Sarah had attacked Theo in support of Todd after learning of his abuse.
Lisa and Danielle gave evidence that did not go in Sarah's favour. Later, in the Rovers, David confronted Lisa for not helping Sarah, accusing her of 'sabotaging' her defence. He then turned on Kit, who said he wanted nothing to do with the Platt family anymore.
Fans question missing relatives
