Ben Driscoll fears for his stepdaughter Susie Price's safety on Coronation Street after his mother Maggie posts a video of Eva singing and dancing on the Rovers Return website. The video has already caught the attention of Glenda Shuttleworth, who suggests Susie should enter the Little Big Shotz talent competition.
Family's history of abuse
The Driscoll family are all too familiar with abuse, having been shaken by the discovery that Ben's son Will was groomed by predatory athletics coach Megan Walsh. The ordeal caused serious friction between Ben and his mother Maggie, who physically pushed Megan in an effort to scare the abuser away from Will.
Maggie has a history of reckless acts, having pushed her husband down the stairs to his death to conceal that Ben is actually the lovechild of her affair with Jim McDonald. Despite this, mother and son have found a way to rub along together since Megan was found guilty.
Ben's protective instinct
In upcoming scenes, Ben butts heads with Maggie when he holds her responsible for potentially putting Susie in danger. Influenced by the Megan ordeal, Ben is determined to keep his stepdaughter safe and insists Maggie take the video down. However, Glenda has already complimented Susie and encouraged her to sign up for the talent competition, and Ben reckons Glenda should be taken to task for encouraging her.
Whether Susie's moment in the spotlight ends in disaster remains to be seen.
