Cheryl will make her long-awaited return to television tonight as she helps out close friend will.i.am on The Voice UK as the battle rounds kick off. The ITV singing contest continues on Saturday (October 10) night, and coaches will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones, Danny Jones, Tom Fletcher and Kelly Rowland will test their teams with assistance from special guest mentors.
Cheryl's return to the spotlight
Girls Aloud legend Cheryl will lend her support before officially joining The Voice UK as a main coach next year. It was confirmed earlier this year that the Call My Name hitmaker will appear alongside will.i.am and Kelly on the panel, with rapper Aitch as Sir Tom, Tom and Danny bow out from the series.
This high-profile role marks her first prime-time television gig in six years, following her break from the spotlight. This major career step follows a difficult period for the singer, marking her first major television project since the tragic passing of her ex-partner and father of her son, Liam Payne.
Guest advisors revealed
Show insiders noted that she spent months in negotiations and finally felt "ready to re-enter the spotlight" with a team she feels incredibly comfortable with. Cheryl isn't the only famous face offering a helping hand to the coaches.
Singer-songwriter Paloma Faith makes her return to the show after previously serving as a main coach in 2016. The Only Love Can Hurt Like This singer will advise Sir Tom on which team members will make it all the way to the end of the competition.
The Voice Australia coach and current Strictly Come Dancing contestant Delta Goodrem will help Kelly after spending eight seasons on the Aussie edition of the programme. Also, Danny and Tom will be joined by their McFly band members Dougie Poynter and Harry Judd as they try to win The Voice UK two consecutive years in a row following their success with AVA in 2024.
Teams and next steps
Last Saturday (October 3), the final instalment of the blind auditions was broadcast and the coaches completed their teams, each comprising eight acts. The coaches and their advisors will now collaborate with the performers to help them secure their place in the competition, though not every act can advance.
Team will.i.am comprises Diogo Ferreira, Sonna Rele, BMG, Triple Threat, Teodora Sava, Naná Aldrin-Quaye, Ardú, Bella Popera. Team Kelly features Monique Nicholson-Porter, Ray Gelato, Lascel Wood, Aaren James, Cris Quammie, Samantha Udeke, Turah Sadiq, Jessica Beth. Cate McHugh, Vadé Amãlia Estradas, Harry Linacre, Eric and Jensen, Dakari Love, Molly J, Robbie McMinn form Team Sir Tom, while Ellie Harney, Ross McGuire, Ciiara Nyx, Finlay McKillop, Jack Algar, Frank Raven, Regan Preece, Adam Tucker have enlisted with Team Tom and Danny.
The Voice UK continues Saturday, October 10 at 8.35pm.
