Celebrity Traitors star 'lets slip' next murder in clue

James Blunt may have inadvertently revealed the identity of the second murder victim on Celebrity Traitors, following a social media exchange with a fan. The singer's one-word response has sparked speculation that Hannah Fry will survive, leaving Jerry Hall as the likely target.

21 celebrities entered The Traitors castle last week to compete for a charity prize of up to £100,000. Claudia Winkleman selected Maya Jama and Richard E. Grant as the first two Traitors, who then recruited James Acaster into their ranks. Amol Rajan became the first contestant murdered.

James Blunt's social media clue

After the first roundtable, fans became convinced James had a hidden agenda when he accused Hannah of being a recruited Traitor. During the roundtable, he said: "I think sometimes the simplest theory is probably the most correct theory, and what we do know is that we've had a murder, and we know we've had a recruitment. And if you are to murder and recruit, I think you're going to murder the biggest threat to you, and you're going to recruit the person who's even more threatening to you. The murder was Amol. The recruitment was Hannah."

One fan shared their interpretation on Instagram, writing: "I'd like to think it's a tactic to keep her in the game. If her name is brought up the traitors are less likely to murder her." James appeared to validate the theory, responding simply: "Bingo."

Who faces elimination next

Jerry Hall and Hannah Fry are the only contestants facing potential murder, after Jerry requested to be pulled from a buried-alive challenge before it commenced. The first banishment will be revealed on Thursday, October 8, with Richard E. Grant currently the bookmakers' favourite to be eliminated following his accidental confession to being a Traitor.

Lorraine Kelly addressed James' response on her ITV breakfast programme, remarking: "Fans think they know who's going to be murdered next after a wee blunder by James Blunt. We last saw him accuse Hannah Fry, how dare he, of being a Traitor. But now, he's suggested he brought up her name [as] a red herring to save her, that's what he's saying!" She added: "Does that mean she survives tonight or not?"

The Celebrity Traitors is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
