Amazon shoppers call £18 vegetable chopper a 'stress reliever'
Amazon shoppers hail £18 vegetable chopper as 'stress reliever'

The Fullstar Pro Core - Vegetable Chopper & Mandoline Slicer is available on Amazon for £17.98, down from £24.99, in a limited-time deal that saves shoppers 28%. The six-in-one gadget includes two dicers, a slicer, julienne, grater and coarse shredder blades, which are swappable 'in seconds'.

A finger guard keeps fingertips clear of sharp edges during slicing, while the non-slip rubber base holds the chopper firm on any worktop. The listing says the Fullstar Pro Core is compact enough to live on the worktop, slim enough for a tight drawer, or big enough for weeknight prep, as it is able to help make salads for two, mid-week curries, traybakes, stir-fries and more.

Features and alternatives

It features a 1.2L container to catch food, with no chopping board needed, and it is dishwasher safe. The chopper, lid and every blade go on the top rack, and there's an included scraper and cleaning brush for the parts between the blades.

For an alternative, shoppers could pick up the Ninja Professional Stackable Chopper 200W from SharkNinja for £30. Described as 'small, yet mighty', this mini chopper makes short work of food preparation, as it can chop, mince and puree ingredients 'in seconds'. Or at Argos, there's the Russell Hobbs Desire Charcoal Mini Chopper for £30 - and there's currently 20% off using the code RED20. With 200 watts and sharp two-tip stainless steel blades, it cuts ingredients quickly and evenly, and it comes with a 500ml glass bowl.

Shopper reviews

The Fullstar Pro Core has been rated highly on Amazon, with an overall average score of 4.4 out of five stars from more than 17,000 reviews. One shopper said: "I had seen this gadget being used by several people on YouTube and decided to give it a go, as I am known for being pretty slow at chopping, although I love cooking. As well as the speed and ease with which you can chop veg, it's also a fun gadget to use as slamming it down to chop is very satisfying! I have used it mainly for cucumbers and peppers so far, when making salad, and my kids like the bite-sized pieces it creates."

A second person wrote: "After having the perfect diced salads whilst on holiday, I decided to invest in a little time-saver to help with the veggies - and I wasn't disappointed! It has many attachments, so you can cut/dice/slice your food however you wish, but be careful as the attachments are incredibly sharp! The cleaning aids that come with this little chopper are great in helping to clean the nooks and crannies without injuring yourself. Definite time saver, that is good quality, washes well and a great addition to any kitchen."

While a third added: "Love this item. Saves time and is less dangerous than a knife. And you can change the sizing of the vegetables, too. Durable and strong - a great item in my kitchen."

Negative feedback

Others, however, left some feedback in their reviews. One person said as part of a longer review: "It is undeniably convenient in the moment - but it's a nuisance to clean. Bits get stuck in the mechanism."

Another commented: "Arrived the next day - love it. I have chopped my way through various vegetables, the only thing it struggled with is a slightly ripe tomato - but what wouldn't?"
