Big Brother star Frankie Taber comes out to housemate Yasmin

Big Brother fans have rushed to support housemate Frankie Taber after he opened up about his sexuality in emotional scenes during the latest episode of the ITV2 show on Monday, October 12.

Frankie, 23, came out to his fellow housemate Yasmin, saying: “You’re not going to believe it when I say it. I’ve come on the show to come out. I’m bisexual.”

He explained that he had been carrying anger about his sexuality for years, telling Yasmin: “So I’ve come on the show, and I feel that over the years, anger around it has built up so bad. Obviously, I’ve got a girlfriend, I’m still with her and whatnot, but that’s why I’ve been so worried about her, because I’m just thinking, she knew obviously.”

Prepared before entering the house

Frankie said his girlfriend was aware of his plans before he entered the house. “I didn’t plan Big Brother, but I planned what I was going to do, so she was very aware before I came on here what was going down. So like she knew, she prepared.”

He went on to reveal that he discovered his bisexuality only recently. “I found out only a year and a half ago,” he said. When Yasmin asked how he found out, Frankie said: “I think over the years I’d always chase money, I always chase fame to some degree, I always chased validation all the time.”

“And I was just trying to fill a void. And in the end, I just looked at myself and thought ‘there’s something wrong’ so that’s why I’m here.”

Fans show support online

Reacting to the moment online, fans rushed to support Frankie. On X, one person said: “Yasmin’s reaction was supportive and understanding. Love is love, Frankie.” Another added: “So proud of him.”

A third viewer wrote: “Frankie being that open on camera is genuinely so refreshing, like the way he just said it without making it a whole thing.”

Last month, Frankie had opened up about his sexuality in the diary room, saying: “I sit there worrying about my girlfriend. Worrying about Nan and my family. My father. You know what I mean? I have a lot of worries about the outside world in here. I mean, look, I came on here to obviously come out and say I'm bisexual and stuff. It was a big thing for me, especially at the time.”

He added: “My girlfriend was very good about it. And we do have a very, very strong bond. I mean, I've been with my girlfriend for probably about four to five years now. There was nothing really about it. She didn't really care, to be honest. She didn't really care. If I'm honest with you.”

Big Brother airs on ITV2 at 9pm.
