Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) has taken a massive risk in an attempt to destroy Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown) in Coronation Street.
Earlier this week, Bethany learnt about how Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) believes that she can constantly hear baby Harper crying, and then found Jodie messing with a recording of the noise. Stunned that Jodie was meddling in her sister’s life, Bethany threatened to tell Shona everything.
Jodie’s threats and framing
Jodie then produced a recording of Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) talking about sleeping with Bethany and warned that if Shona found out about the recording concerning baby Harper, she’d tell everyone about Bethany and Kit. Bethany had no choice but to keep quiet, but that became impossible to do in today’s episode, as she witnessed Jodie framing Lily Platt (Grace Ashcroft Gardner).
At the Bistro, the Platts had gathered for Shona’s birthday party. While Bethany took some snaps of Lily, no-one spotted Jodie stealing Lily’s phone. She then plugged Lily’s phone into the docking station and selected a playlist. As the recording played, everyone fell silent as Harper’s crying filled the room. Shona immediately accused Lily of recording Harper in a bid to convince her that she was losing her mind.
Shona leaves for a hotel
The argument between Shona and Lily continued back at home. Poor Lily was devastated and tried to defend herself, but Shona was utterly convinced that she had created the plot out of jealousy. Shona concluded that she didn’t want to stay at home, and left for a hotel. In the background of the argument was Bethany, who couldn’t believe that Jodie had taken things this far.
While she was in her hotel room, Shona began scrolling through an online forum for mums and found a post from an account with a profile picture of her. Puzzled, Shona was interrupted by a knock on the door. Bethany entered and told Shona that there’s something she needs to know.
A huge risk for Bethany
This is a huge risk. If Bethany tells Shona that Jodie was the one with the recording, it increases the chances of everyone finding out that she slept with Kit. How will Bethany’s chat with Shona unfold ahead of a turning point in the story tomorrow?
