Celebrity Traitors angers BBC star who refuses to watch for personal reason
BBC star refuses to watch Celebrity Traitors for personal reason

Tom Allen has revealed he did not watch the new series of Celebrity Traitors, saying he knows all the comedians booked this year—and was not booked himself.

Celebrity Traitors season two debuted last night, Thursday, October 1, on BBC, with former Strictly Come Dancing star Claudia Winkleman back to host. The lineup includes Love Island's Maya Jama, This is Us star Bella Ramsey, presenter Ross Kemp, and singer James Blunt, all gathered in a Scottish castle.

Comedians dominate the lineup

Following Alan Carr's triumph last year, several comedians are in the cast this time around, including Rob Beckett, Joy Lycett, Joanne McNally, Romesh Ranganathan, and James Acaster. However, seeing this many comedians did not please everyone.

On this evening's The One Show, former Celebrity Traitors star Celia Imrie, actor Lenny Rush, and comedian Tom Allen appeared to discuss their recent work. While Celia stayed quiet about the reality show, Tom spoke to presenters Clara Amfo and JB Gill.

Tom Allen explains his absence

Tom said: "There's a lot of comedians booked this year and I've not been booked." He added: "So no I didn't watch, because I know all of them and can just phone them up. I don't need to watch them on a programme very much."

Clara joked that it was a "terrible oversight," and Tom agreed: "Yes, that's what I'm here to talk about."

Last night, Claudia appointed Maya and actor Richard E Grant as this year's Celebrity Traitors, but Richard accidentally revealed the secret to his co-stars early, raising questions about whether he has already lost before the game has started.

What to expect next

The official synopsis for this evening's episode reads: "With the sun setting and the first round table commencing, emotions run high as the players' suspicions are put to the test - but are they looking at the right people?"

Celebrity Traitors continues Monday to Thursday at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
