Mandy was left in tears just minutes into viewing a property on A Place in the Sun. She and her fiancé Mick were searching for their dream home in Spain during a repeat episode that aired on Tuesday, July 18.
Couple's Search for a Spanish Dream Home
The couple, who met over 40 years ago after knowing each other growing up, got together years later. Engaged at the time of filming, Mandy had met Mick through being best friends with his sister. With Mick close to retirement, they hoped to eventually move to Costa Blanca, Spain.
Speaking to presenter Ben Hillman, Mandy and Mick shared their thoughts behind the move. “This is your forever,” Ben told them, as Mandy confirmed: “It is, it will be.”
Emotional Reaction to a Property
The pair were looking for a detached villa with its own pool and plenty of outdoor space to host friends and family, within a budget of £230,000 plus an extra £10,000 wiggle room. They wanted at least two large bedrooms, if not three.
“We’re so excited!” Mick enthused. Their excitement increased with each of the five properties they saw, and at one point, Mandy was left in tears.

Seeing her reaction, Ben said: “Obviously, it’s making you very emotional.” She replied: “This is your typical, Spanish feel. The open plan… it’s not very often that I go speechless, but wow.”
Ben went on: “I think when you’ve decided to change your life in the past Mandy, you’ve made these really bold decisions to go and live abroad. You’ve done this before, you know what it’s like to set up a new life in a new country. Did it take a lot for Mandy to convince you to move abroad, Mick?”
Excitement Continues
Mick shared: “I’m relying on her expertise, but I’m willing to just give it a go, give it the best we’ve got.” As they continued their tour of the property, the couple couldn’t contain their excitement, with Ben adding: “Just when you think things can’t get any better, they do! Tears and everything!”
Mandy praised: “I couldn’t wish for better… this is how I envisioned it to be.” A Place in the Sun is available to watch on Channel 4.
