Amber Davies, the Welsh TV personality and musical theatre star currently playing Elle Woods in Legally Blonde the Musical, asked for a "selfish" audience member to be removed from the theatre after the woman filmed the entire first act of Saturday night's performance at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in Dublin.
In a video posted during the interval, Davies expressed her frustration at the woman in the front row who was "distracting" the cast by recording the show. She reminded theatregoers that video, flash photography, and audio recording are prohibited during performances due to copyright issues and because they distract the cast on stage.
Davies Calls Out 'Selfish Actions'
Davies said: "This is your daily reminder not to film at the theatre." She noted that while they had a "beautiful audience," the woman in the front row had filmed "the entirety of act one," leaving the cast distracted.
"It's ruined the morale of our wonderful eighth show on a Saturday night from selfish actions," she added in the video, which was shared on social media.
Davies, a former Love Island star who also appeared on Strictly Come Dancing, told her followers that she had asked for the woman to be removed for the second act. She explained that she often requests audience members to be removed if she sees them filming.
Warning to Future Audiences
"Hopefully she's not back for act two. I've asked, can she go so we can just enjoy ourselves. But there has been a couple of people filming in Ireland this week and I'm the type of person, I will count how many seats away you are from what door and you will be told and asked to leave," Davies said.
She concluded: "So yeah guys, don't film. Let's just enjoy the two and a half hours together, we don't need to film everything. Okay, right I'm gonna go and do act two."
The incident highlights ongoing issues with audience etiquette in theatres, where recording performances is strictly prohibited. Davies's direct approach has drawn attention to the problem, with many social media users praising her for speaking out.
