Ruben Dias Denies Cheating on Maya Jama After Split

Manchester City defender Ruben Dias has publicly denied cheating on his former girlfriend, Love Island presenter Maya Jama, following their split after 18 months together. The 29-year-old footballer took to Instagram to address rumours, stating that infidelity was not the cause of their breakup.

In a lengthy statement, Dias wrote: 'I feel that when my 85-year-old grandad is asking me if I've cheated on my girlfriend because he's seen it repeatedly on the news, that's where I draw the line.' He insisted that their relationship was 'built on mutual respect' and that 'no line was ever crossed in that regard.'

Dias added: 'A lie told often enough can start to feel like the truth and for that reason I tell you that I didn't cheat, nor did I ever have the intention or temptation to. I believe Maya deserves all the respect in the world.' He declined to provide specific reasons for the split, calling it a private matter.

The couple are thought to have parted ways just before Jama, 31, left for Scotland to film the celebrity version of The Traitors at the end of April. Prior to the breakup, rumours circulated that Dias had been 'toe dipping'—a term for potentially flirting with others while in a monogamous relationship—on social media, though there is no suggestion he messaged any women.

Dias concluded his statement by urging fans to show respect for both him and Jama, emphasising that infidelity is not always the reason for a split. The pair had been together since early 2023.
