Nearly three years after the world lost music legend Tina Turner, her devoted husband, Erwin Bach, has stepped back into the spotlight with a new partner by his side. The German music producer, who was devastated by grief following Turner's 2023 death, has found love again with glamorous American widow and art patron Christina de Labouchere.
A New Chapter Begins in Milan
Exclusive photographs obtained by the Daily Mail show the couple, both in their sixties, looking every inch the happy pair during a shopping trip in Milan's fashion district. Laden with bags from ritzy designer boutiques, including the luxury Italian house Dolce & Gabbana, they appeared completely at ease in each other's company.
The 69-year-old Bach, who sported his signature long grey hair, was seen carrying shopping bags for his new companion as they strolled and shared smiles and whispers. Notably, Bach was still wearing a ring on his wedding finger, a poignant reminder of his 26-year relationship and subsequent marriage to the Queen of Rock 'n' Roll.
From Shared Grief to Shared Happiness
The pair's connection is rooted in shared experience. Christina de Labouchere, 60, lost her philanthropist French aristocrat husband, Pierre de Labouchere, in the same year Tina Turner passed away. It is believed Bach and de Labouchere met in 2024. She resides near the Swiss city of Gstaad and serves on the board of trustees at The American University of Paris, where she is described as an active patron of Swiss art institutions.
Bach recently went public with their relationship at a party he hosted at the $76 million Stafa mansion on Lake Zurich, which he and Tina bought in 2021. To friends, he expressed his gratitude for his new love, telling the Swiss tabloid Blick, "Now I can be happy again," while also noting that "She is not a public figure."
Their afternoon in Milan hinted at future domestic plans, with a stop at the upscale Armani/Casa home store. They also visited the historic Cova pastry shop, a favourite of Italian high society since 1817. Despite differing tastes in music—de Labouchere is a ballet and opera fan, while Bach prefers pop—they see it as a complement rather than a contrast.
A Legacy of Love and Resilience
Bach's life with Tina Turner was one of profound devotion. After she survived an abusive marriage to her singing partner Ike Turner, she found lasting love with Bach. He famously donated a kidney to her in 2017 during her long health struggles. The couple eventually became Swiss citizens, making their home in the country for three decades.
Tina Turner died in May 2023 at the age of 83 at Villa Algonquin in Kusnacht, a lakeside home they rented, following a stroke and kidney failure. Her final stadium concert was in Sheffield, England, in 2009. The iconic singer, born Anna-Mae Bullock in Nutbush, Tennessee, in 1939, won eight competitive Grammys from 25 nominations and three lifetime Grammy Awards.
Following her passing, well-wishers covered the outside of her home with flowers, a testament to the deep affection locals held for the global star who had made Switzerland her home. The new chapter for Erwin Bach, set against the backdrop of the magnificent Swiss estates he shared with Tina, shows that life, and love, can begin again after immense loss.
