Netflix is set to premiere a landmark documentary series on one of Britain's most beloved pop groups, Take That, offering fans an unprecedented look behind the curtain. The three-part series, simply titled TAKE THAT, will launch globally on the streaming platform on 27 January 2026.
Unseen Archives and Intimate Revelations
The documentary promises a treasure trove of exclusive content, drawing from 35 years of rare archive material, personal footage, and brand-new interviews with band members Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, and Mark Owen. A newly released trailer offers a first glimpse, featuring never-aired clips from the band's heyday, including all five original members: Barlow, Donald, Owen, Jason Orange, and Robbie Williams.
In one poignant archival clip, Jason Orange reflects on the band's early bond, stating, "[The Band] were tight amongst ourselves, it felt like we were kings of the world." Another lighthearted moment shows a young Robbie Williams joking about pre-show rituals: "We all kissed before the show... in a butch way!" Gary Barlow is heard musing on the unique experience of being in the group, saying, "Nothing beats being in a band, there's strength there's a buzz. But I don't think anything can prepare you for what we were about to take on in the 90s."
From Manchester Roots to Global Stardom
The series charts the iconic band's journey from their humble beginnings in Manchester to becoming global pop superstars. It will cover their meteoric rise, the dramatic splits—first with Robbie Williams' departure in 1995 and later Jason Orange's exit in 2014—and their triumphant comeback as a trio. Take That's staggering commercial success is underscored by their record of 12 UK Number One hit singles and over 45 million records sold worldwide.
The official description promises the "deeply personal and definitive story," told in the band's own words, exploring the camaraderie, chaos, and resilience that defined their career.
Major 2026 Tour Announcement
Alongside the documentary news, Take That has announced plans for a major live return. The current trio—Barlow, Donald, and Owen—will revive their celebrated 'The Circus Live' tour across the United Kingdom and Ireland in the summer of 2026.
This tour, named after their 2008 album, holds a special place in chart history. Its original 2009 run became the fastest-selling tour ever at the time, with over 600,000 tickets sold in under five hours. The band aims to replicate that phenomenal success by bringing back the elaborate stage sets, costumes, and props from the original 20 sold-out dates.
This dual announcement marks a significant moment for fans, offering both a reflective deep-dive into the band's storied past and a highly anticipated return to the live stage, cementing Take That's enduring legacy in British music culture.
