Steps Star Lee Latchford-Evans Reveals Vocal Health Struggle

Lee Latchford-Evans, best known as a member of the 90s pop group Steps, has opened up about a private health battle. The 51-year-old singer shared on Instagram that he was diagnosed last year with Muscle Tension Dysphonia, a condition caused by excessive fatigue in the larynx.

In his post, Latchford-Evans said he had numerous scans, tubes down his throat, and hospital rehabilitation. He managed to work through it but admitted his voice has never quite been the same. He is now working on voice rehabilitation with a specialist.

Steps, formed in 1997, achieved a string of hit singles including Tragedy and Deeper Shade of Blue before disbanding in 2001. The group has since reunited and released new music such as Scared of the Dark and What the Future Holds. Outside Steps, Latchford-Evans has performed in pantomime and the musical &Juliet.

Fans offered support in the comments, with one writing: 'Feel better soon Lee. I love when you sing, always a treat to hear your voice!' Another said: 'Glad you are managing to work through it.' Some fans also expressed anticipation for the band's 30th anniversary next year.

Latchford-Evans has been married to Kerry-Lucy Taylor since 2012. The couple have a four-year-old son, Leo, and announced at Christmas that they are expecting another child. Taylor previously described Leo's birth by C-section as 'traumatic' due to the baby being breech and her suffering from pre-eclampsia.
