Heartwarming Doorbell Duet Captivates the Nation
A group of five Scottish primary school boys have unexpectedly become a global Christmas sensation after their charming doorstep performance was captured on a Ring doorbell camera. The video, featuring Jack Campbell, Dylan Thompson, Cameron Bourne, Liam Phillips, and Ollie Shearer singing Wham!'s classic hit 'Last Christmas', has been viewed more than 1.4 million times since being shared online.
The Unforgettable Performance
The festive moment unfolded in the town of Denny, when the boys approached the home of Erin Chalmers. After ringing the bell, Cameron announced to the camera, 'This is to get you in the Christmas spirit,' before the group launched into their full-throated rendition of the beloved number one hit. As they departed, Dylan shouted 'love you' into the camera, completely unaware their performance was about to be seen by hundreds of thousands.
Homeowner's Delight and National Pride
Homeowner Erin Chalmers, a mother-of-two, was working when her husband alerted her to the heartwarming footage. 'When you see a group of kids coming up the drive, you expect the worst,' Ms Chalmers told STV News. 'I just didn't expect it, we were just like, this is hilarious.' She expressed immense national pride in the clip, adding, 'This is Scotland, this is us, this sums us up in one, and it's just brilliant. It's the accents, the characters. You're not going to get kids doing that anywhere else.'
Ms Chalmers even joked that the boys were 'putting the John Lewis Christmas advert to shame' and suggested that Ring Doorbell 'should 100 per cent' use it for their advertising.
Families React to the Viral Fame
The boys' families have been overwhelmed by the positive response to the viral video. Jack's mother, Dianne, described the reaction as 'heartwarming'. Dylan's mother, Stephanie, revealed her son has 'always been a performer', while Cameron's mother, Kerry, admitted she was 'surprised they even know the song'.
Liam's mother, Collette, shared that her son is 'as proud as punch that he and his pals did such a good thing together'. Ollie's mother, Hannah, added the charming detail that 'He's forever singing, we've always got the radio on in the car.'
The footage, posted on TikTok, attracted thousands of comments and views within hours, turning the five friends into an overnight Christmas sensation and providing a much-needed dose of festive cheer.
