Sam Fender vows to cut ticket prices after leaked costs

Sam Fender has vowed to lower ticket prices for his upcoming UK stadium tour after leaked figures circulated online, saying the costs were "inflated" beyond what he had intended.

The North Shields singer-songwriter, known for hits including Hypersonic Missiles, Rein Me In, Seventeen Going Under and People Watching, is set to perform at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on Thursday, June 10. The tour also includes dates at St James' Park in Newcastle, Manchester's Etihad Stadium, Edinburgh's Murrayfield, and London's Wembley Stadium.

Leaked prices prompt response

Ahead of the official sale next week, a post on Instagram revealed ticket prices for each date. For Cardiff, the post stated front standing would cost £119, standing tickets £98.10, and seating would range between £64 and £119.

The post caught Fender's attention, and he replied directly. He wrote: "I'm not happy with these prices. They're getting changed. It got inflated well more than I'd had in mind. It should only be inflated in relation to the cost of putting the show on."

He added: "The standing will not be split as well. I had no idea about it. I had no idea how this was normalised in gigs. It's bollocks and it won't be happening on this tour."

Fans react positively

Fans responded to Fender's comment with praise. One person wrote: "This is one of the million reasons why we love you, Sam." Another added: "Absolute legend for calling it out. Even more respect if you manage to get them changed in time for everyone." A third simply said: "Legend of the game."

Fender has won five Brit Awards and two Mercury Prizes. Alongside Olivia Dean, he recently broke the record for the longest-running number one song in history, held by Frankie Laine since 1953, when Rein Me In topped the charts for 19 weeks in July.
