Sam Fender surprises North Shields pub after gig sell-out

Sam Fender has sold every ticket for his St James' Park gigs in Newcastle for the third time in three years, and he marked the occasion with a pint at a North Shields pub, surprising the staff on shift.

Tour announcement and ticket sales

At the start of last week, following a hint during his seat at the Newcastle v Aston Villa match, Sam confirmed his 2027 stadium tour with a Lord of the Rings-style video revealing the venues. The tour includes dates in Newcastle, Manchester, Edinburgh, Cardiff, London and Dublin, kicking off at St James' in June.

Sam kept his promise to reduce ticket prices, but fans seeking Newcastle tickets faced a setback when ticket site Gigantic was targeted in a bot attack. The pre-sale went ahead on Thursday, with the general sale starting Friday at 9.30am, and all St James' Park tickets were quickly snapped up.

Pub visit and staff reaction

Before the general sale, extra dates were added in Cardiff, Edinburgh and Wembley. As fans hope for another Newcastle date, Sam wound down with a pint at The Wheatsheaf on New York Road in North Shields.

Staff shared news of the visit on Saturday, posting photos on Facebook and writing: 'Well, tell you what, what a lovely little surprise! When the top bloke himself, Sam Fender, pops in for a pint! Had a good bit of banter and a lovely chat with him too. A proper top bloke!'

They added: 'Thanks for popping in, Sam. Hope to see you again soon! Never took the job offer.'
