Sam Fender confirms 2027 St James' Park gig in stadium tour

Sam Fender has confirmed he will return to St James' Park in 2027 as part of a new stadium tour, ending days of speculation with a video reveal on Monday afternoon.

The announcement came at 5pm on 19 October, when the singer shared a Lord of the Rings-themed clip on his Instagram grid, captioned 'The Beacons Are Lit!'. The video showed Fender and members of his band dressed as characters from the films, with flames erupting from St James' Park and other venues across the country, including the Etihad in Manchester, Cardiff, Murrayfield in Edinburgh and Wembley.

Tour Reveal Follows Weekend Hint

The confirmation followed a subtle teaser during Newcastle United's 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa at St James' Park on Saturday, when messages reading 'Proper Massive SF 27' appeared by the pitch and on a screen inside the ground. Fans were urged to sign up for updates via Sam's website.

Specific dates for the gigs have not yet been announced, with the singer again directing fans to his website for further information. The post quickly drew a wave of reactions, with one fan calling it 'best video campaign ever' and another writing 'HE’S COMING HOME. HE’S COMING HOME. FENDERS COMING HOME.'

Previous St James' Park Shows

Fender last played the stadium in June 2025, having performed two sold-out shows there two years earlier. In 2025, the run was expanded to three nights, with more than 150,000 people attending across the three concerts.

Those shows featured appearances from Easington Colliery Band, Olivia Dean, CMAT and surprise guest Dan Burn, who walked on stage with the Carabao Cup during the final show after watching the first night from the crowd.
