The Masked Singer UK: Red Panda's Debut Delayed After Swiss Tragedy
Red Panda's Masked Singer debut delayed after Swiss fire

The latest series of The Masked Singer UK returns to ITV this weekend with a significant schedule change and fresh speculation about a frontrunner's true identity.

Red Panda's Performance Postponed

Viewers tuning in will notice one key absence. Red Panda, a new contestant, will not be performing as originally planned. ITV bosses made a last-minute edit to the pre-recorded episode following the tragic fire in Switzerland on New Year's Eve.

The blaze broke out at the Le Constellation bar in Crans-Montana at approximately 1.30am on January 1, as young adults celebrated. Reports indicated waiting staff were carrying bottles of champagne with sparking flares shortly before the fire started.

An ITV spokesperson explained the decision, stating: "In light of the tragic events in Switzerland, we took the decision to remove Red Panda's performance on The Masked Singer in tonight's programme owing to potential insensitivities within the theme and lyrics of the song." They confirmed that Red Panda will perform in the coming weeks.

Moth's Identity Sparks Fan Theories

Meanwhile, another mystery has captivated the audience. After a powerful rendition of Mariah Carey's 'Hero', fans are convinced they have unmasked Moth. Social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), has been flooded with theories pointing to one voice.

Many listeners instantly recognised the distinctive vocals as belonging to Keisha Buchanan, a founding member of the Sugababes. One fan wrote, "Moth has to be Keisha from the Sugababes," a sentiment echoed by numerous others who identified her unique tone.

This Week's Line-Up and Guest Judge

Despite the change, a packed roster of characters will still take to the stage. Alongside Moth, the performers this weekend include Yak, Gargoyle, Sloth, and Arctic Fox. One of them will be unmasked and sent home after the panel's verdict.

The judging panel will also see a new face, with former England cricketer and TV personality Freddie Flintoff joining as a guest judge. He will sit alongside the regular panel of Maya Jama, Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan, and Jonathan Ross.

The series has already revealed several celebrities. Last week, Professor Green was unveiled as Teabag, while Matt Lucas was the man inside Emperor Penguin. Alex Jones of The One Show was Disc Jockey, and singer Anne-Marie was behind the Goldfish costume.
