Ozzy Osbourne to Return to UK, Citing Soaring US Taxes

Ozzy Osbourne and his wife Sharon are preparing to leave Los Angeles after two decades in the United States, with the Black Sabbath frontman citing rising tax rates in California as the primary reason for their move back to the UK.

The 73-year-old musician, who owns a country house in Buckinghamshire called Welders House, expressed sadness about leaving but said the tax burden had become too heavy. 'If they do the taxes better then I may come back,' he told Sirius XM's Ozzy Boneyard Channel.

Osbourne, a Grammy Award winner, plans to bring his recording studio with him and build a new one at his UK property. 'I will still be making music and my band will come over,' he added. The US federal tax rate is 28%, with an additional 13% state tax in California on all profits.

The singer also opened up about his mental health struggles, revealing he has been seeing a therapist to cope with Parkinson's disease, the pandemic, and recovery from operations. 'Over the past three years I have got a therapist,' he said, adding that painting has helped him manage difficult times.

Ozzy and Sharon, who will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary in July, are working on a biopic of their lives with Polygram Entertainment. Sharon is also reportedly in talks for her own UK chat show. The couple's UK and European tour with Judas Priest has been postponed to next year.
