Over 4,000 attend Newcastle Halloween event at Digital

More than 4,000 Newcastle and Northumbria students attended the Unit 90 event at Digital nightclub in Newcastle on Halloween night, making it the biggest ever Halloween for the city centre club.

The event, held on Saturday October 31, saw a huge queue form outside Digital in Times Square, with a line of people stretching around the block as soon as doors opened. The turnout marked a significant milestone for Unit 90, which launched in Newcastle six weeks prior.

Halloween weekend celebrations

Halloween falling on a Saturday contributed to a busy weekend across Newcastle. Festivities began earlier in the week, with university societies holding sports night on Wednesday and the Horror Store in Eldon Square seeing high demand for last-minute fancy dress costumes.

On Friday, pubs and bars in the city centre were busy, with revellers preparing to party on Osborne Road in Jesmond. Saturday saw an early start at Boiler Shop for Bingo's Bingo daytime Halloween special before crowds gathered in the evening.

Record turnout and response

The Bigg Market remained busy into the early hours of Sunday, while Digital hosted the successful Unit 90 event. Over 4,000 students went through the doors at Digital on Saturday.

Unit 90's team posted on Instagram: "A massive thank you to every single one of you who bought a ticket and joined us tonight and over the past 6 weeks since we launched in Newcastle. Your support hasn’t gone unnoticed and we appreciate every single one of you."

They added: "UNIT.90 will return on Thursday, November 12, as we take a little break this coming week to take in all your feedback from the past month and return bigger and better than ever."
