The Offspring guitarist Noodles has announced he is stepping away from live performances after being diagnosed with a “sudden and fairly serious health issue”. The 63-year-old musician, whose real name is Kevin John Wasserman, shared the news in a statement posted on Instagram on Wednesday, October 21.
Guitarist Announces Break From Performing
Noodles, who co-founded the American punk rock band, revealed he would be taking a break from performing while he deals with the unexpected health problem. He wrote: “It is with deep sadness that I have to announce that I need to step away from live performance for a while to deal with a sudden and fairly serious health issue.”
The guitarist did not disclose further details about his condition or reveal how long he expects to be away from the stage. It is also unclear who will take his place during the band's upcoming gigs, with a spokesperson yet to provide further information about his absence.
Bandmates Show Support
Despite the difficult news, Noodles reassured fans that his bandmates are supporting him while he focuses on his health. He said: “The rest of the band has my back, is super supportive, and will keep rocking you all in my absence.”
The musician also shared his hopes of returning to performing as soon as possible, adding: “I hope to be back on stage sooner rather than later. Until then, I will miss all of you with all of my heart. Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts. I really appreciate it.”
Musicians Send Messages of Support
Following his announcement, Noodles received an outpouring of support from fellow musicians and fans. Simple Plan singer Pierre Bouvier was among those sending their best wishes to the guitarist. He commented: “Hope you’re ok brother. Sending love and positivity. You’re a legend…. You got this.”
Other acts, including Slightly Stoopid, The Early November and Sublime, also shared messages of support.
Upcoming Tour Dates
The Offspring have spent much of the year touring in support of their 11th studio album, Supercharged, which was released in 2024. The band has several performances scheduled in the coming weeks, including a show at the Wiltern in Los Angeles on October 24.
They are also due to appear at SEMA Fest in Las Vegas on November 6 and the Corona Capital 2026 festival in Mexico City on November 21. Following those dates, the group is scheduled to take a break from touring before returning to the stage on January 16 at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, as part of the iHeartRadio ALTer Ego 2027 festival.
It remains unclear whether the upcoming performances will go ahead as planned or who will perform in Noodles' place during his absence.
