Jay-Z will headline the 2027 Super Bowl halftime show, the NFL has announced. The rapper is set to perform on February 14 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
The confirmation came in a joint announcement by Roc Nation, the NFL, and Apple Music, ending weeks of speculation. The news was revealed ahead of the NFL's Monday night game between the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles.
Anticipation Builds Over Possible Guests
In a statement, the NFL noted that speculation will now begin over who Jay-Z might bring as a guest star for the halftime performance, with his wife, Beyoncé, expected to be at the top of the list.
The 56-year-old musician said: “From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl Halftime stage, this has been a journey. Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world’s biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true.”
Roc Nation Partnership Continues
The headline slot comes seven years after Jay-Z's entertainment company, Roc Nation, partnered with the NFL to advise on and help produce the league's entertainment presentations. Previous headliners since Roc Nation's takeover include Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, The Weeknd, and Bad Bunny.
The 2025 show featuring Kendrick Lamar became the most-watched Super Bowl halftime show in history and won the Emmy for outstanding music direction.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said: “When we first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I had just one request: that Jay-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him.”
Return to the Stage
The headline slot will bring Jay-Z back to the stadium where he closed his “Jay-Z 30” concerts over the weekend. Those shows celebrated the anniversaries of Reasonable Doubt and The Blueprint, with the rapper performing for two nights at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in September.
They marked his first solo UK appearance in over a decade, the last being the Magna Carter World Tour in October 2013. He was joined by artists including Lauryn Hill, Giggs, Idris Elba, DJ Khaled, Sampha, and Dave.
Jay-Z, whose given name is Shawn Carter, has become one of hip-hop's most decorated names since rising to fame with his debut album, Reasonable Doubt, released in 1996. His accolades include being the first rapper inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, winning 25 Grammy awards, and being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2021.
