Jay-Z confirmed as Super Bowl 2027 halftime performer

Jay-Z has been officially confirmed as the performer for the Super Bowl 2027 halftime show, ending months of speculation that had included names like Miley Cyrus. The announcement was made by Apple Music, which sponsors the event.

The show is scheduled for February 14 at SoFi Stadium in California and will celebrate the Roc Nation founder's 30 years in the music industry.

Jay-Z's Statement on the Milestone

In a statement, Jay-Z reflected on his career journey: "From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl Halftime stage, this has been a journey. Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world's biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true."

Apple Music's announcement post, featuring Jay-Z sitting in a stadium, read: "GOAT's out of the bag." The acronym stands for "greatest of all time."

Recent Tour and Possible Guest Appearances

The announcement follows a sold-out world tour with dates in London, Paris, and across the US. His closing shows at SoFi Stadium featured cameos from artists including Scarface, DJ Khaled, John Legend, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg. Jay-Z also brought out his daughter Blue Ivy and his wife, Beyoncé, leading to speculation they could join him at the Super Bowl.

Roc Nation, Jay-Z's entertainment company, has produced the Super Bowl halftime show since 2019, making his debut a long-anticipated event.

Reactions from NFL and Apple

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said: "For several years, we've had the privilege of working closely with Jay-Z and Roc Nation, and I've seen the extraordinary impact he has had on the Super Bowl Halftime Show. When we first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I had just one request: that Jay-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him. I couldn't be more excited for fans around the world to experience the artistry, creativity and cultural impact he will bring to the Super Bowl stage."

Oliver Schusser, Apple's vice president of music and international content, added: "Jay-Z's impact on global music culture is as profound as it is undeniable. We've had the privilege of working closely with him these last few years to bring some of the world's most exciting and prolific artists to the Super Bowl Halftime Show stage and we are so thrilled that he will be taking that stage himself this year. We know it's going to be an incredible show."

Earlier this year, Bad Bunny delivered an Emmy-winning performance, becoming the first Latino male artist to headline the halftime show. His show, nicknamed "Benito Bowl," averaged 128.2 million viewers, above the 124.9 million average for the Super Bowl overall, but below the record 133.5 million viewers for Kendrick Lamar's 2025 performance.
