Ellie Goulding has announced her sixth studio album, titled 'I Know Too Much', set for release in September. The album, her first since 2023's 'Higher Than Heaven', was recorded with producer Jack Rochon and is described by the singer as a 'divorce album' following her separation from ex-husband Caspar Jopling in 2024.
The 39-year-old singer debuted the lead single 'Black Prada Dress' at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend in Sunderland. The track will be officially released this Friday, June 5. Goulding explained that the song addresses self-criticism and internal negativity, saying, 'It’s directed at that negative, critical voice bringing you down... I love the honesty of it, the rawness.'
Goulding, who gave birth to her second child, Iris, with boyfriend Beau Minniear in March, said the album reflects her emotional journey. 'The songs have gone from so dark and angry, to cynical, to funny, to coming out the other side, to meeting a new guy and being excited,' she told Nylon magazine.
The singer also has a son, Arthur, four, from her marriage to Jopling. 'I didn't know it was going to be a divorce album, but that's the way it started heading,' she said, adding that some songs acknowledge the past respectfully while others were cathartic in the moment.
'I Know Too Much' is set for release on September 4.
