A family are appealing for help in finding a Manchester man who has gone missing in Colombia. Anton Green was last heard from by a friend in the South American country on August 6, 2026.
His family say they are 'extremely' worried after weeks have gone by since the last time he contacted a family member on August 5. Originally from Whalley Range, Anton moved to the country after he decided to travel three years ago.
Life in Colombia
After visiting a few destinations in Europe, the 43-year-old decided to travel to South America. Fluent in Spanish, he spent some time in Colombia where he decided to settle on the outskirts of the capital as he took a liking to the way of life, culture and cost of living in the country.
According to his family, Anton has lived near the city of Bogota where he has stayed around the Fontibon and Mesita Del Colegio areas. His family say he had recently moved homes weeks before his disappearance. However, Anton's family in Manchester have not heard from him for 46 days.
Family's appeal
Anton is described as dark skinned, with short afro hair and is listed at 5 ft 6.
Speaking to the M.E.N, his sister, Sian Tuohey, 40, said: "One of his friends in Colombia thinks the last time he spoke to Anton was August 6. My dad spoke to him on August 5. It was a videocall, he seemed to be behaving normal."He said he was planning on maybe briefly going to Ecuador, we're just not sure. He's definitely had major struggles with his mental health at a similar time last year so for the past year we've been keeping an eye on him but it has been a bit of a struggle."
Leaving a message to Anton, Sian said: "Get in touch with his mum or dad. We're extremely, extremely worried."I know he doesn't have his own children, but he's got his nieces and siblings and we're worried. I don't fancy losing my brother in another part of the world."
Official support
A spokesperson for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said: "We are supporting the family of a British man reported missing in Colombia and are in touch with local authorities."
