A woman in New York City captured a video of a man outside her hotel, initially unaware of his identity, before realising it was actor Brett Goldstein from Ted Lasso.
Rhonda, a TikTok user, shared footage showing a man surrounded by what appeared to be a film crew. In her caption, she wrote: "POV: You walk out of your hotel in New York City and suddenly there's a whole film/TV production happening right outside." She added: "And THEN I realise the actor filming is Brett Goldstein from Ted Lasso… except I had NO idea who he was at the time. New York really does have the most random celebrity encounters!"
Who is Brett Goldstein?
Goldstein, 46, is an English actor and comedian best known for playing Roy Kent in the Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso, a role that earned him two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for the first two seasons. He is also the co-creator of the comedy-drama Shrinking.
His other credits include a 2018 episode of Doctor Who, a mid-credits cameo as Hercules in the 2022 Marvel film Thor: Love and Thunder, and voicing Roland the Shar Pei in The Garfield Movie in 2024.
What was he filming?
The exact project was not confirmed, but the video was posted in early September, and some commenters suggested he may have been filming the upcoming Prime Video comedy series Escorted, which he stars in, writes, and executive produces. The show follows Denny, a divorced dad in Manhattan who accidentally becomes a male escort, and also stars Lesley Manville, Jordyn Rolling, and Leslie Bibb. No release date has been announced.
One commenter wrote: "Yes, they were shooting his new series Escorted up on the Upper West Side a few weeks ago." Another said: "Oh my God, I'd die. He's so fine." A third added: "You should have said hi. He was awesome when we met him."
