Beatles attraction plans revealed for Liverpool landmarks

A fly-through video has revealed how a major new Beatles attraction will take over key landmarks in Liverpool city centre. The clip accompanies today's announcement of a multi-million pound Beatles experience set to open in 2028 in the city that shaped the band.

The plans involve moving The Beatles Story from its current home at the Albert Dock into a central, immersive attraction. The new experience will be created in the former St John's Market Hall, vacant since the market closed in 2024. At 100,000 square feet, the site will have more than quadruple the footprint of the current Beatles Story.

St Johns Beacon to become Yellow Submarine experience

The iconic St Johns Beacon, formerly home to Radio City, will be transformed into a Yellow Submarine-themed viewing experience. The CGI film shows a major "The Beatles" sign across the top of the beacon, with the Yellow Submarine imagery below.

Fans will enjoy a panoramic 360-degree view of Liverpool from the beacon, taking in landmarks and key locations where pop history was made. The Beacon will operate as a standalone attraction, though visitors can pay for both experiences together.

Immersive spaces and film props

The main section of the new 100,000 sq ft attraction will be created in the remodelled St John's Market. Visitors will journey through the world that created The Beatles, from post-war Liverpool to Hamburg, Beatlemania, and international fame. Immersive locations will include The Cavern, Abbey Road, Shea Stadium, and Savile Row.

Several of these locations will be built using sets and props from Sam Mendes' upcoming The Beatles: A Four-Film Cinematic Event, which Sony will release in cinemas worldwide in April 2028.
