Bit Reactor, the developer behind Star Wars Zero Company, has begun bringing team members back to work and hinted at future content for the game, including possible DLC. The studio had placed around 80% of its team on unpaid leave after running out of money before launch.
Staff returning and continued support
Although official sales figures have not been released by Bit Reactor or publisher EA, signs suggest Zero Company has performed well. Team members have started returning to the studio, and for the first time, Bit Reactor has teased 'continued support' for the game.
CEO Greg Foertsch said they will share 'more updates regarding Bit Reactor and Zero Company soon,' suggesting sizeable patches may be on the way. Fans have also expressed interest in an endless mode, as New Game+ only carries over cosmetics.
Strong sales and player feedback
According to estimates by Alinea Analytics, Zero Company sold at least one million copies and generated roughly $50 million (about £38 million) within its first month. It was also one of the top-selling PC games of August, despite releasing late in the month.
Despite its success, players have reported numerous bugs on Reddit and Steam forums, which is unsurprising given the skeleton crew working on the game in its final weeks. Foertsch noted that Bit Reactor has 'started the process' of bringing people back, though there is no guarantee everyone will be reinstated.
Current workforce status
According to Game File, Bit Reactor's paid employee count is now more than half of its original size, with a 'fair number' of employees still on unpaid leave. No specific numbers have been provided.
The future of Zero Company appears promising, with continued support and potential DLC on the horizon, though the full scope of returning staff remains uncertain.
