Nintendo has officially confirmed its next major showcase, a Nintendo Direct scheduled for Tuesday, June 9, at 3pm BST. This presentation, lasting approximately 50 minutes, will focus on games coming to both the Nintendo Switch 2 and the original Nintendo Switch later this year.
What to Expect
While the presentation is expected to feature updates on previously announced titles like Star Fox, Splatoon Raiders, Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, Rhythm Paradise Groove, and The Duskbloods, the biggest question remains whether a rumored The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake will be revealed. This remake is believed to be Nintendo's major holiday title for the Switch 2 this year.
First Major Direct in Months
This marks the first major Nintendo Direct focused on first-party games since September 2025. Since then, Nintendo has held presentations for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Pokémon, Kirby Air Riders, Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream, and various Partner Showcases and Indie World events, but no major new first-party announcements have been made.
Unanswered Questions
With the holiday lineup still unclear, expectations are high. If the Zelda remake rumors are false, Nintendo will need to reveal other major titles for autumn. Additionally, only Pokémon Winds and Waves is known for 2027, so this Direct may also preview future Switch 2 releases.
Post-Direct Treehouse Live
Following the Direct, Nintendo will host a Treehouse Live presentation lasting an additional 95 minutes, likely covering specific games in more detail.
Price Increase Context
This Direct comes after Nintendo announced a price increase for the Switch 2, effective from September 1, 2026. Nintendo boss Shuntaro Furukawa acknowledged the need for a robust software lineup to enhance the console's value, hinting at the importance of this presentation.
