Manchester United have agreed a deal with Amazon Prime to produce an 'All or Nothing' documentary series throughout the 2026/2027 season. The streaming service promises 'unprecedented access' behind the scenes at Old Trafford and Carrington.
Record Fee and Timing
United have negotiated a record fee for a comparable documentary, surpassing what Amazon paid for similar access at Manchester City and Arsenal. The club had considered the idea in previous years but deemed the timing now right, especially after finishing third in the Premier League and securing a return to the Champions League under Michael Carrick.
Carrick's Influence
Michael Carrick, appointed in January, is seen as the ideal head coach for the documentary. Unlike his predecessor Ruben Amorim, who was quotable and uncomfortable with cameras, Carrick is more reserved, reducing the risk of controversial moments. His calm demeanor contrasts sharply with Amorim's more volatile style.
Amorim had previously vetoed the documentary during a dismal 15th-place finish, citing it as a distraction. However, the club's improved fortunes and Carrick's steady leadership have changed minds.
What to Expect
While Amazon promises unprecedented access, critics note that 'All or Nothing' documentaries are often sanitized. However, fans can expect behind-the-scenes glimpses, such as Leny Yoro wearing a sequin jacket as a forfeit after losing a crossbar challenge. The series will also cover the women's and academy teams, and showcase the £50 million Carrington refurbishment.
Chief communications officer Toby Craig stated: 'Now is the right time to open our doors... This documentary will showcase Manchester United’s unique people, ambition and culture.'
Comparison with City's Success
When Manchester City featured in the series during their record-breaking 2017/2018 season, Pep Guardiola's passionate outbursts went viral. United hopes for similar success, though Carrick's less explosive style may yield fewer expletives.
Filming begins in pre-season and will run through the campaign, with the documentary aiming to capture the club's journey domestically and in the Champions League.
