GTA 6 file size leaked by Cyberleek and it is absolutely massive

GTA 6 leaker Cyberleek has claimed that the playable build of the game takes up over 200GB of hard drive space, according to a report from Metro. The leaker, who has been posting clips from the game in an attempt to earn cryptocurrency from fans, reappeared recently with nude clips and threats to release the entire game online.

Leaker's claims and caveats

As part of the threat, Cyberleek claims the 'playable build' of GTA 6 takes up over 200GB. However, there are some caveats to this figure. It is unclear what build Cyberleek actually has. All signs suggest it is an early debug version, and these are typically larger than the final release because the files have not been compressed yet.

It is also not clear whether his build includes the main story campaign, as he has shown virtually nothing of it. If it does not, then the final file size could be even bigger.

Potential final size

Bearing these two factors in mind, the file size could be reduced to something around 150GB, but it is difficult to say without concrete knowledge of what Cyberleek actually has access to.

Concrete numbers around GTA 6's file size are likely to come in the run-up to launch next month, from insiders with access to backend store listings. Whatever the size ends up being, it will only get larger when the inevitable online component comes out, although that might prove to be a separate download from the base game.

GTA 6 is set to launch across PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, 2026. According to reports, the PC version is expected in early 2027.
