Rockstar is set to launch an updated roleplay server for GTA 5 next month, with a closed beta available through the official Rockstar Games Launcher, signalling potential roleplay support for GTA 6.
NoPixel 5 closed beta details
The NoPixel team announced via Discord, later shared on X, that the closed beta will start on September 8. Only select participants will be allowed in initially, with invites rolled out gradually as access expands. Players can register interest on the NoPixel website, but it's only for GTA Online on PC and requires the FiveM mod.
A trailer is teased for September 1. The update is described as a 'full rebuild' with new locations, vehicles, and a more in-depth city, but current NoPixel servers will remain accessible.
Rockstar's roleplay commitment
Rockstar acquired FiveM in 2023 and collaborated with NoPixel in 2025 on the NoPixel 5 update. The beta's availability through Rockstar's launcher indicates serious support for the GTA roleplaying community, suggesting GTA 6 will see similar support.
Such support won't be at GTA 6's launch, as the game is console-only initially, and no official mention of its online mode has been made. However, a PC port is expected, and rumours suggest Rockstar wants GTA 6's online mode to support monetisable user-generated content.
Future of GTA 6 roleplay
Rockstar's integration of FiveM hints that roleplaying will be key to GTA 6's longevity, possibly even bringing mod support to consoles. The wait for such support in GTA 6 remains unknown.
Rockstar will share more GTA 6 news soon, with an extended preview airing on Netflix next week, potentially revealing gameplay, a PC port date, or GTA Online 2 details. The preview may be about an hour long across three episodes, though no official run time is confirmed.
