Fortnite Servers Down for Major Update: When Back Online

Fortnite developer Epic Games has taken the game offline for an extended period of server maintenance, coinciding with the release of update 40.41 on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, iOS and Android. The downtime began at 9am BST on May 29, with matchmaking disabled from 8.30am.

This is the final update of the current Fortnite season, laying the groundwork for major events. Players must install the update to play once maintenance ends. According to the Fortnite server status page, downtime is expected to last approximately 90 minutes, meaning servers should be back online from 10.30am BST.

The update ushers in the end-of-season live event on Friday, June 5, and the Community Day celebration. Community Day runs from 2pm BST on May 30 to the same time on May 31, offering rewards, 5X Rivalry Credits, double XP up to 50 levels, Blue Chests, and player-voted Weapon Unvaults. It also includes a Power Hour, Showdown Epilogue, and the live event reveal.
