Sports Interactive has postponed a planned update for Football Manager 26, leaving over 200 issues unresolved that were set to be fixed. The delay, announced on Wednesday, November 19, has drawn sharp criticism from players who describe the game as 'unplayable' in parts.
The studio had initially confirmed on Tuesday that update 26.0.6 would roll out via the Steam Public Beta Track on November 19, with a full release later that week. The update was to include fixes for player wage demands, an FPS limit option, and changes to European coefficient points. However, a 'knock-on performance issue' forced the backtrack.
Fans have vented frustration on social media and forums. One tweeted: 'It's incredibly frustrating to pay for a game that clearly wasn't ready. The online mode is literally unplayable.' Streamer Nerdphonic called the decision-making 'insane', adding that Sports Interactive are 'continually not learning lessons' about communication.
On Reddit, players expressed dismay, with one calling the experience 'honestly exhausting' after encountering a bug during a Barcelona save. Another asked: 'How many more own goals can SI kick?' The developer has indicated that the console version will be updated by Friday, November 21, with Touch and Mobile updates expected early next week.
