Thea Ramsden (Chelsea Edge) has escalated her revenge against Kim Tate (Claire King) in Emmerdale by hacking into Kim's phone, gaining access to her private messages and movements. This comes after Thea overheard Kim and Lydia discussing the illegal adoption of Joe Tate's (Ned Porteous) baby, which reignited Thea's hatred.
Thea's revenge plan intensifies
Thea, who is Kim's adopted daughter—a fact only she and Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy) know—returned to the village to make Kim pay for the disrupted childhood she experienced. However, her feelings have been conflicted, especially after seeing Kim's softer side. But Kim's support for Joe giving his son up for adoption brought Thea's hatred back in full force.
Serena has tried to warn Thea off her revenge plan, disturbed by her friend's increasingly unbalanced behaviour. But Thea is enraged that Kim has flippantly given up another child, and after overhearing Kim and Lydia discuss the adoption openly—despite its illegal circumstances—Thea's face darkens as she realises it's happened again.
Social worker arrives at Home Farm
A social worker turns up at Home Farm demanding to see Joe and the baby after a report of an illegal adoption. Thea's plot has clearly triggered this visit, though her actions have put her in a precarious position.
Speaking about Thea's mindset, star Chelsea Edge said: 'She has to be very careful with how she brings about her theory that the baby is being sold in the first place. If she rescues the baby and takes it to the police station, her superiors will ask how she knew all this was happening. How is she going to explain her involvement and knowledge of this? She's gone way off the book. She wants justice.'
Edge added: 'She's massively driven by justice and sees Kim as this person who has gotten away with a lot of crimes her entire life. She thinks this is the moment she can put Kim down.'
Halloween turning point
Thea's plot escalates further when she gains access to Kim's phone. With a little hacking, she can watch Kim's every move and read all her private messages. She's struck gold, but what she finds could be unexpected.
Teasing the drama ahead at Halloween, Edge said: 'It is a big turning point. It all comes to a head, and there's a real 'like mother like daughter' moment in their fieriness that we experience through Halloween – which is very fitting!'
