Emmerdale hints Samson Dingle may not return home after prison

Emmerdale has hinted that Samson Dingle (Sam Hall) may not return to the village after his prison release, as Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) suggests the difficult dynamic at home could prevent his comeback.

Samson was sentenced to prison in 2024 after lying about Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano) stabbing him, which led to Matty being imprisoned. While Matty faced increasing danger in prison, desperately protecting his identity as a transgender man, Samson kept quiet for months before confessing to his family and the police.

Living Arrangements Under Scrutiny

Earlier this week, Matty told his mum Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) that he was struggling at Emmerdale Farm since Sarah and Jacob Sugden (Katie Hill and Joe-Warren Plant) moved in with baby Leyla. Moira suggested he move in with the Dingles, planning for Matty to take Samson's old room, unaware that Samson was due for release.

When Moira found out, she backed Matty, arguing Samson didn't deserve to move back in. Lydia and Sam Dingle (James Hooton) disagreed.

Tensions Rise Over Samson's Return

In Thursday's episode, a probation officer visited Wishing Well to assess Samson's living arrangements. Lydia insisted that Matty and Samson had moved on, even claiming they were now friends. Moira, however, made her disagreement clear to the officer.

After the officer left, Lydia confronted Moira, warning that Samson might not be able to come home due to the difficult dynamic. Realising his presence was causing problems, Matty told Moira he would look for somewhere else to live, wanting a quiet life away from the Dingle chaos.

It has not been confirmed whether Samson will return to the village. If the probation officer believes the tension between Moira and Lydia will affect his readjustment, he may live elsewhere.
