Emmerdale fans are predicting a new romance for Joe Tate, played by Ned Porteous, after Sadie King's recent return to the village.
Sadie, portrayed by Patsy Kensit, made her comeback to the Yorkshire village last month following a two-decade absence. She arrived by helicopter shortly after the death of her former husband, Jimmy King (Nick Miles). Initially, Sadie claimed she had no hidden motives, but later revealed a huge secret that shocked residents.
Sadie's secret uncovered
At The Woolpack, Sadie announced that she and Jimmy had been romantically involved for the past three years and that he had been living with her. Her deceptions have now been uncovered, devastating Jimmy's wife, Nicola (Nicola Wheeler), who had started to "hate" her deceased husband.
After being rejected by most residents, Sadie headed to the bus stop to leave Emmerdale before encountering Joe Tate. Joe convinced Sadie to stay in the village, recruiting her to uncover damaging information about his uncle Caleb Miligan (William Ash) and his wife, Ruby (Beth Cordingly).
Connection with Caleb
Sadie quickly developed a rapport with Ruby and has temporarily taken up residence at The Mill. The villain has now begun her campaign to seduce Caleb under his own roof. Her pursuit continued during Friday's (October 16) episode, currently available to stream on ITVX.
While Ruby left the house to meet friends, Sadie formed a connection with Caleb over their similar experiences growing up in care. "When I meet someone who's been through something similar, it's like finding a kindred spirit," she said.
"Well, it explains a lot about you," Caleb replied. "People who haven't been there, they can never understand it." Sadie continued: "Yeah, and being broke and practically homeless, it's brought up a lot of stuff."
Fans speculate on new romance
Sadie then placed her hand on Caleb's leg, prompting the depot owner to leap from the sofa in alarm. "Whoa. What do you think you're doing?" he asked. "Don't do that again! Don't ever touch me." Sadie swiftly apologised, assuring Caleb that she "wasn't trying anything". She tearfully stated: "I don't wanna cause problems... It was just a gesture of friendship. I never meant to make you feel uncomfortable."
While Caleb appeared to accept Sadie's explanation, some viewers are now speculating that she might pursue a romance with another resident. Despite her past with Caleb's brother, Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley), numerous fans suspect that Sadie could embark on a passionate new relationship with Joe, who has lately been mourning the death of his fiancée, Dawn Fletcher (Olivia Bromley).
Speculation is rife among fans, with one viewer asking on a Facebook fan page: "A prediction for future episodes. Does Caleb have an affair with Sadie?" Another chimed in: "No, I actually think Joe will." A third appeared to concur, writing: "Omg wouldn't be surprised," while a fourth viewer added: "I can definitely see that happening."
Meanwhile, other viewers were horrified by the suggestion, with one person writing: "Oh I hope not!" Another added: "Oh please no," while a third said: "I can NOT see that happening."
Emmerdale airs weekday nights at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
