EA Sports FC 27 is adding Ted Lasso crossover content to coincide with the show's fourth season, this time featuring the Lady Greyhounds, the women's team from the series. The content will be available in regular play, career mode, and Ultimate Team.
Return of Ted Lasso Content
In 2022, EA included content based on Ted Lasso in FIFA 23, which was seen as a one-off since the show was scheduled to end with its third season. With Ted Lasso returning for a fourth season in August, EA is bringing the show's characters into EA Sports FC 27, including the new women's football team.
EA describes this as the first time Ted Lasso has featured in the EA Sports FC games, which is technically true since the series was previously branded as FIFA. Unlike the earlier crossover, which let players use AFC Richmond, EA Sports FC 27 features AFC Richmond Women, also known as the Lady Greyhounds, matching the current season's focus.
In-Game Features and Rewards
The team will be playable in regular matches, career mode, and Ultimate Team. EA has promised 'themed rewards' across both modes but has not provided specific examples. The actresses' likenesses are used for team members, including Abbie Hern, who plays striker Gemma Jay in the show.
'It was incredibly special the first time I got to play with AFC Richmond in the game, and it's amazing to see myself as part of the Lady Greyhounds squad in EA Sports FC 27,' Hern said in a statement. 'Our fans have embraced Richmond as more than just a fictional club. Giving people a way to play and connect with the women's team on the pitch in FC 27 feels like a wonderful next chapter, and I hope players enjoy making us part of their football stories.'
Release Timing
Jason Sudeikis, who portrays Ted Lasso, is also back as a playable manager in career mode, and Nelson Road, AFC Richmond's home stadium, will be available as a stadium option. EA has not specified an exact release date for the content, only that it arrives with the new season. Season two of EA Sports FC 27 starts on October 22, so the Ted Lasso content is expected around that time.
