Abi Webster catches Ronnie Bailey with his arms around another woman in upcoming Coronation Street episodes, seemingly confirming Debbie's fears that her husband is being unfaithful.
Ronnie has been a devoted husband to Debbie Webster throughout her battle with dementia, standing by her despite the stress caused by her son Carl. The couple married in January, but their happiness was disrupted when Carl framed his mum for the Corriedale crash, leading to Debbie being imprisoned for reckless driving.
Ronnie's loyalty tested
Even while Debbie was inside, Ronnie refused to walk away, visiting her whenever possible and trying to persuade Carl to clear her name. When Debbie was released and her condition worsened, Ronnie remained by her side as husband, caretaker and friend, vowing to stand by her through every stage of the terminal illness.
However, Ronnie has a complicated past. He was previously involved with old flame Fiona Morley, a criminal with a stolen car ring. When Fiona involved Carl in her business, Ronnie agreed to owe her a favour in exchange for clearing Carl's debt — a betrayal of Debbie's trust that threatened their marriage.
Debbie's suspicions grow
With Debbie's condition declining, she is becoming increasingly confused and disorientated, having already mistaken Carl's latest conquest for Kylie Minogue. When she starts suspecting Ronnie of playing away, she recruits her former sister-in-law Abi to investigate.
Feeling that Ronnie treats her like a toddler at home, Debbie is annoyed when he turns down her offer of an afternoon lie down and instead goes out to grab lunch. Fearing the worst, she summons Abi to the flat and tells her she is convinced Ronnie is seeing someone else and planning to put her in a care home.
Abi's discovery
When Ronnie tells Debbie he is off to a meeting, a suspicious Debbie calls Abi and asks her to keep an eye on him. As Abi passes Victoria Garden, she spies Ronnie with his arms around another woman and wastes no time in confronting him.
The question remains: how will Ronnie get out of this? Is he truly developing a connection with someone else, or is there more to this than meets the eye?
